Description

This session is dedicated to assisting first generation and ELL students and parents on how to properly navigate the collegiate system by advocating and asking the right questions to get answers on how to move forward. We will explore both college enrollment and financial aid questions, as well as how to contact the right person for assistance when there is a problem in either area. Most parents of first generation and ELL students have no idea where to start or what questions to ask or even who to go to for help. This session will remedy that.

1. Who to contact for application issues.
2. Who to contact when trying to understand financial aid, including understanding the verification process.
3. What questions they need to ask to effectively advocate for the student.
4. Who to contact when trying to locate resources for their students.
5. Empower parents and students with information to advocate for themselves and succeed in college.
