Darryl Samuels is a patient, diligent, God fearing man in a chaotic, multi-layered, ever-changing industry.

Whether it be installing equipment at a hospital; reporting construction data received from subcontractors on a K-12 project; or, preparing the next generation of skilled laborers, managers and business owners Darryl Samuels builds lives, careers and projects…one person at a time with talent, technology, and tenacity for a living.

Successful construction projects are driven by people with strong relationships, communication and problem-solving skills. Samuels’ industry expertise, experience and personable style creates order out of chaos and simplifies the construction process for project owners, general contractors, specialty subcontractors and tradeworkers to work collectively and complete high-profile projects safely, on-time, within budget and in compliance.

As the Managing Partner of D. Samuels & Associates (DSA), a Houston area Construction Management firm, he and his 6 employees provide construction, construction management, and resource development services to public and private commercial and infrastructure projects. DSA holds significant contracts with the Houston Independent School District, Ferrovial, and Hensel Phelps Construction Company to perform construction related services on K-12, Highway, Airport and Hospital projects in and around the State of Texas.

Prior to DSA, Samuels spent many years building his reputation by assisting other Houston area construction companies of color secure millions of dollars in contracts, financing and bonding through his positions as Executive Director of the National Association of Minority Contractors- Greater Houston Chapter; and Project Manager for both the M.D. Anderson HUB Advisory Program and University of Texas System Bonding & Technical System programs as well as Interim Project Manager and Senior Consultant for the U.S. Department of Commerce Minority Business Development Center in Houston, Dallas, and New Orleans, all operated by Grijalva & Allen, PC.

Being a member of Windsor Village Methodist Church, and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., as well as an avid reader and a self-proclaimed “gym rat” fuels Darryl’s passions in educating young people of color about career and financial opportunities in the construction industry; working with his alma mater Iowa State University(where he earned a Bachelors and two Masters degrees) to recruit and retain African-American students; athletics (especially golf, now that he is older); and, strategizing the next business power move while grilling with his wife, Germaine and friends in their back yard in Pearland, TX.
